Free admission to exhibitions and programs! BOARDER X LAUNCH - Skateboarding all weekend long! Get stoked... this is your chance to skate The Rooms! Join us for a weekend full of board culture as we launch the exhibition Boarder X. 10 am - 12 pm Youth Skate Clinic: Youth (6-13) can reserve a time with the VANS instructor on the half-pipe. 1 - 3 pm Girls Only Skate Clinic: Reserve a time with the VANS instructor on the half-pipe. 3 - 5 pm Open Skate: Any skater from the community can reserve a time with the VANS instructor on the half-pipe. 6 pm Opening remarks: By exhibition curator, Jaimie Isaac 7 pm - 9:30 pm Skate Demonstration ? VANS professional skaters and local skate crews will tackle The Rooms indoor half-pipe. Live DJ, lights, videographers, photographers and more. ___________________________________________________________ 10 am - 5 pm - Experience Art! Explore our permanent collection exhibition Truth of Myth? then try your hand at a fun drawing exercise. You can make postcards in the gallery, then mail them to your family and friends. 3 pm - Guided Tour - Truth or Myth? Learn about themes and events relating to the cultural identity of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians, illustrated through artworks from our permanent collection.

Workshop
Beyond the Attic Genealogy Workshop

Excited about finding some Newfoundland and Labrador ancestors? This is the perfect chance to get started or continue your family research. This half-day workshop is an introduction to genealogy, with an orientation to the extensive genealogical archival collections at The Rooms. Our expert staff will be your guides through practical online resources that you can use to trace your family tree.

This is an introductory workshop - all skill levels welcome!

Included in the workshop fee:

  • An Introduction to Genealogy Handbook
  • A permanent researcher registration number for The Rooms (Value $10)
  • Light refreshments (tea, coffee and a cookie or muffin from The Rooms Cafe)
  • Orientation tour of the Archives Reference Room
  • A Family History Notebook
  • Access to key genealogy resources to aid your research
  • A voucher for free admission to The Rooms for a return visit to see exhibitions.

Tots: Tuesday Afternoon Playdate

Join us for a delightful afternoon at The Rooms! Bring your little ones to our enchanting Harbour View Room for unguided playtime surrounded by an array of toys and books tailored for infants and toddlers aged 0 to 4.

No prior registration is necessary; simply pay your admission at The Rooms front desk and drop in anytime between 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm!

Please note that caregivers must accompany their children throughout the session. While our program room can accommodate up to 20 adults with their little ones, if it reaches capacity, we kindly ask caregivers to momentarily step back to make room for others to join in the fun.

The Playdate is included in the cost of admission. Free for Rooms Members.
