For most of its existence Planet Earth has been a brutal, inhospitable, toxic nightmare, until a half billion years ago when !KABOOM! - life suddenly appeared. The First Animals on Earth is a new documentary that takes you back to the Cambrian Explosion through newly-discovered fossils that tell us about our origins, including Newfoundland's very own Haootia Quadriformis. Join us for this screening and hear from paleontologist Dr. Jean-Bernard Caron from the Royal Ontario Museum about the making of this documentary and from Dr. Duncan McIlroy of Memorial University to learn about our part in these new discoveries. Fun Fact! The Haootia Quadrformis fossil featured in the First Animals episode is on permanent display at The Rooms in the Level 3 Connections Gallery.
