The Story of Paddy Iron

Date: Nov 15
7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Where: Theatre

The life of Paddy "Iron" McCarthy of Renews is brought to life by Randy Crane with musical accompaniment by Larry Brazil. Adapted from Frank Holden's play, Paddy Iron, in turn inspired by Bertha Thorne's Book It's Like a Dream to Me. This play recalls Paddy's memories of everyday and extraordinary events of Newfoundland throughout the 20th century from the crash of the SS Florizel, to fishing, community dances and politics. Complemented by archival images, this play will bring you back to days gone by.

Voices from the First World War

Join us as we bring history to life through a dramatized reading of original letters and diary entries from the First World War era.

Through the words of soldiers, nurses, and those who remained on the Homefront, this program offers an intimate glimpse into the hopes, fears, and resilience of those who lived through one of the most defining conflicts of the 20th century. These authentic voices—preserved in letters and journals—reveal the deeply human side of war, from the trenches to the hearth.
