- 5:00 pm
Where: Level 2.5
Boat builders from the Wooden Boat Museum of Newfoundland and Labrador will be on site, level 2.5, to demonstrate how the design of an old boat can be recreated by using measurements of the hull taken in the field. "Taking the lines" is a process that has been used many times by the Wooden Boat Museum to document the design and dimensions of punts (rodneys), dories, motor boats, and trap skiffs that represent the quickly-disappearing small boat heritage of our province. The demonstration will be led by Jerome Canning and the boat to be measured will be the resident punt at The Rooms that Jerome built in 2007.
Winter may be here, but there’s no need to stay home!
Join us at The Rooms to exercise and socialize during this colder and drearier time of year. While strolling throughout the building and enjoying both the exhibitions and the views, participants will focus on a different spotlight item from our collection each week. After our stroll, staff will lead a brief discussion on the weekly spotlight, and then everyone is encouraged to stay and socialize with friends new and old.
No registration is needed. Included with the cost of admission ($7.80 plus HST for seniors), free for members.
