We are so excited to share that The Rooms Giant Squid is turning 40 years old!  Join us for a Squidapalooza to help us celebrate!

Giant Squid like the one at The Rooms have inspired myths and legends for more than 2000 years! Did you know they live in all the Earth’s oceans, have 2 feeding tentacles, 8 powerful arms, the largest eyes in the animal kingdom and a sharp beak!  Wow!  That’s giant!!

Join us for a weekend for all things squid including:

Squid Print Crafting - Learn printmaking techniques, using rubber squid, and printing inks to create your own school of swimming cephalopod.

Make a Squid Hat - Using a no-sew pattern, simply use scissors and a series of knots to fashion yourself a wearable winter Squid Hat, with tentacles and all.

Marvel at all kinds of sea life, including the amazing giant squid specimen in the Connections Gallery on Level 3.

Learn the anatomy of a giant squid as you check out our GIANT floor stencil!

Participate in the Name our Giant Squid Contest – enter your name along with a giant squid name for a chance to win a prize (and bragging rights to naming the giant squid at The Rooms)!

On Sunday, get hands on at the Nature Nook station – interact with real specimens like seal pelts and whale baleen, and learn more about nature.  Ask Nature NL volunteers all your questions about Newfoundland and Labrador’s wildlife!

Admission fees apply. Free for Rooms members. Restrictions due to COVID 19 will be in place for everyone’s safety. Masks and proof of vaccination with ID required.
