Celebrate the diversity of talent in our community. This series is part of an initiative led by MusicNL and the Association for New Canadians to increase representation and recognition from immigrant musicians in our province.

This is a FREE event. All ages welcome. Bring your own blanket to enjoy some music on the lawn! (Performance moves inside The Rooms if it is raining or during high winds)

Join us for a conversation with St. John’s visual artist, Kathleen Knowling as she discusses her long career, her connections with feminism, and the local arts community. At the age of 96, Kathleen’s work in the arts has spanned decades. This program includes a question and answer period.

About the Artist:

Kathleen has an extensive exhibition history and her artworks are part of many public and private collections in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

She holds a BA in History from Barnard College at Columbia University in New York. She also studied at Mount Allison University, Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD) University, and MUN Extension Arts.

In 1977, Kathleen initiated and organized the life-drawing program Group of 77, which ran for over 30 years. Today, she is part of the Senior Artist Sunday Group and continues with her professional practice.
