Inspired By: Landscapes in the Sobey Collection – a Gouache Painting Workshop

This workshop begins in the art gallery with a curatorial tour of "Generations: The Sobey Family and Canadian Art". A recurring theme in the exhibition is the North Atlantic, its role in history and its impact on artists’ imaginations. The tour will be given by our Curator of Contemporary Art, Mireille Eagan.

Following the tour, we will move to the art gallery classroom for a landscape painting workshop with art educator, Anne Pickard-Vaandering. Using artist quality materials, we’ll explore a variety of gouache painting techniques including colour mixing, layering and blending. Participants will leave with a completed landscape painting.

What is Gouache? Gouache is a matte, opaque watercolour paint that can yield satisfying results on its own or in combination with watercolour. This class is a great way to try out and explore this medium!

Workshop cost: $60 per person (10% discount for Rooms Members)

Space is limited. Registration is required. Please call 757-8090 to register.

No experience is required and all materials will be provided.
