Workshop: Learn to paint with Egg Tempera

Join artist, Kseniia Korniewska as she leads participants through a 3 hour introductory workshop on making and using egg tempera paint – one of the oldest paint mediums.

Participants will:

  • Receive an introduction to the medium
  • Learn how to mix their own egg tempera paint
  • Start their own painting with tips and instructions being provided


This workshop is geared towards beginners who want to experiment with the medium.

Allergy Alert: This program involves handling raw egg, scented oils (required as a preservative), and powdered pigments.

About the Artist:
Ksenia Korniewska is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist from Kyiv, Ukraine, who arrived in St. John’s in May 2022 and immediately fell in love with the ocean. Drawing inspiration from 14th century Sienese iconography, 17th century anatomical illustrations, natural phenomena and metaphysical poetry, she creates alien hieratic paintings, spectral photography and liminal video art.

Nature Nook is a monthly hands-on session to interact with real specimens like seal pelts, skulls, whale baleen, antlers, moose fur, and a variety of rocks and minerals. Join us to learn more about nature and ask our volunteers all your questions about Newfoundland and Labrador’s wildlife!
