Finding the Muse in NL

Ting Ting Chen is an award-winning visual artist. She left her home in China and came to Newfoundland in 2018, where she has found not only her new home but also her muse and the inspiration for her photography. In her presentation, she will talk about her adventures and art journey in Newfoundland while walking us through some of her most breath-taking fine art landscape and portrait images.

About the Artist:

Ting Ting Chen is a St. John’s-based fine art photographer. She specializes in both fine art landscape photography and fine art portrait photography. Her artworks showcasing the province and the people have won multiple prestigious international photography awards.

Ting Ting’s accolades include the Overall Winner of the 18th Julia Margaret Cameron Awards, 1st Place winner in 9th Fine Art Photography Awards, being shortlisted in the Royal Photographic Society’s International Photography Exhibit 164, 2021 International Photography Awards Silver Winner.

Her works have been displayed in solo and joint exhibits in countries such as Spain, Germany, Paris, Budapest, Tokyo and the United States.

For centuries, fishing for cod has played a vital role in the lives of the peoples of Newfoundland and Labrador. Generations of fishing men, women and children made use of the land and sea to sustain them and spent their lives “making fish”.

In Beaumont-Hamel and the Trail of the Caribou exhibition find out about the impacts of the First World War on Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and how events overseas dramatically altered our lives at home.
