Jerry Evans: Weljesi, curated by Jenelle Duval, marks the first major survey exhibition of works by one of Newfoundland and Labrador’s most significant and beloved visual artists.
Jerry Evans has been dedicated to the preservation, reclamation and continued growth of Indigenous communities across this province for more than 30 years. His iconic prints, paintings, projections and video portraiture demonstrate a generosity of knowledge and a deep respect for his heritage and community. Jerry Evans’ constantly evolving, engaging contemporary practice are fundamental to the art history of this province and the rest of Canada.
The artist will be in attendance. Elder Marjorie Muise will join us for an opening prayer. Jenelle Duval, Philip Muise and Aaron Prosper will perform and we will hear Ko'jua music for this special occasion.
Admission to the Art Gallery exhibitions will be free during the event. There will be refreshments and a cash bar for 19+.

Cameo is a quarterly mixed program that champions movement-based work in all its forms. Launched in April 2024 and produced by Andrya Duff, the series has since featured over 19 local creators and 30 dancers across 16 genres. Like an open mic for comedians or a public reading for playwrights, Cameo offers movement artists a space to test ideas, share 5-min works-in-progress, and explore without the pressure of polished production or financial risk. Centering artists and experimentation, Cameo invites audiences to witness movement in all stages of its evolution.
Presented by the Festival of New Dance in collaboration with The Rooms, this installment of Cameo reflects the series’ evolving practice as 2025 artist-in-residence with Untellable Movement Theatre.
Cost: $5 per person plus HST. Get your tickets online or by calling (709)757-8090.
