Film Series
Presented with PictureNL, we’re shining a spotlight on some of Newfoundland and Labrador’s superb films and filmmakers! Each month we’ll present a different local feature film on our big screen. Gather with friends and film buffs to celebrate home-grown talent.
Our series kicks off with Rare Birds, produced by Pope Productions, written by Ed Riche and directed by Sturla Gunnarsson. Featuring Molly Parker, William Hurt and Newfoundland and Labrador’s own Andy Jones, this film tells the story of a down-and-out restaurateur and his neighbour who hatch a plan to lure luminaries to their small Newfoundland town.
Special for this inaugural screening: Lisa Porter moderates a Q&A with Ed Riche and Andy Jones following the film and reception also to follow.
This year-long monthly series is presented by PictureNL in partnership with The Rooms as part of Year of the Arts celebrations.
Stay tuned as monthly screening dates are announced!
