Celebrating African History and Liberation through Film

As part of African History and Liberation Month celebrations, join us for an enriching film night showcasing Black voices and experiences through a curated selection of films from the National Film Board of Canada. The films being screened will be announced ahead of the event.

This event is presented by Memorial University’s Office of the Vice-Provost, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Anti-Racism, in partnership with The Rooms.

For centuries, fishing for cod has played a vital role in the lives of the peoples of Newfoundland and Labrador. Generations of fishing men, women and children made use of the land and sea to sustain them and spent their lives “making fish”.

In Beaumont-Hamel and the Trail of the Caribou exhibition find out about the impacts of the First World War on Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and how events overseas dramatically altered our lives at home.
