Brian Cherwick leads a fascinating excursion through the world of Ukrainian folk music.

Featuring over 30 traditional string, wind and percussion instruments, he explores genres as diverse as the epic songs of the blind bards, shepherds’ tunes from the Carpathian mountains, ancient ritual melodies, and even a taste of transplanted Ukrainian music as it has evolved on the Canadian Prairies. Among the instruments featured are the kobza (plucked-lute), lira (hurdy gurdy), tsymbaly (hammered dulcimer), duda (goatskin bagpipe), and a wide variety of folk flutes and percussion instruments.

This performance is a unique blend of entertainment and educational experience, spiced with a healthy dose of humour.
