Celebrate spring break with us at The Rooms! From March 30th to April 7th, 2024 children 12 and under can enjoy FREE admission to a week filled with fun and creativity.

This year, we're thrilled to partner with Bricks & Minifigs St. John's and NewfoundLUG to bring you an exciting LEGO® brick building event from April 2 – April 7.

Here's what you can expect:

Exhibition of Local Builds: Explore an impressive showcase of LEGO® creations crafted by local enthusiasts.

Builder Spotlight Station: Have burning questions about designs made of LEGO® bricks? Visit our builder spotlight station and chat with members of NewfoundLUG who will share their expertise and passion for LEGO® brick building.

Community Build: Join in on the fun and contribute to our community display! Every visitor will receive a LEGO® brick to add to the display, creating a collaborative masterpiece throughout the week.

Daily Themed Builds: Unleash your creativity with unique themed builds each day in the Open Minds area on Level 3. Here's a glimpse of our daily themes:

  • April 2: Show Us What You’re Made Of - Create a self-portrait with bricks that reflects your personality and style.
  • April 3: Think Outside the Brick - Let your imagination soar as you build abstract masterpieces inspired by patterns, shapes, and colors.
  • April 4: Building House and Home - Design your dream home or construct a cozy space that represents the idea of home.
  • April 5: This is How We Go - Showcase your favorite mode of transportation, whether it's by boat, train, plane, bicycle, or snowmobile.
  • April 6: Beastly Builds - Bring creatures big and small to life with LEGO® bricks. Need inspiration? Visit the "Connections" gallery on Level 3.
  • April 7: Fabricating Foliage - Explore the rich natural world of Newfoundland and Labrador by creating your favorite features of nature using LEGO® bricks.

Newfoundland Folk Holiday Performance – Fergus O'Byrne & Jim Payne

Continue the festive spirit with a delightful holiday performance featuring Fergus O'Byrne and Jim Payne!

Immerse yourself in the warmth of Newfoundland folk culture, including traditional Christmas carols, rousing sea shanties and work songs, poignant ballads, comic ditties, folk tales and recitations, and toe-tapping jigs, reels, and polkas on a variety of instruments.

About the Performers:

Jim Payne – From Notre Dame Bay, Jim is a leading performer on accordion and a collector of Newfoundland traditional music. He is one of the province’s most prolific songwriters and has created soundtracks for theatre, plays, and documentaries. Jim also owns and operates SingSong Inc., Newfoundland’s largest traditional music label with fourteen available titles, dedicated to music, story, song, and dance reflecting the Newfoundland experience.

Fergus O'Byrne – Originally from Dublin, Ireland, Fergus became a familiar voice on radio and television from 1971 to 1983 as a member of the renowned folk group Ryan's Fancy. He now tours nationally and internationally with Jim Payne and A Crowd Of Bold Sharemen and is recognized for promoting Newfoundland and Celtic music while mentoring young folk music enthusiasts.

Beaumont-Hamel and the Trail of the Caribou

In this exhibition, find out about the impacts of the First World War on Newfoundlanders and Labradorians and how events overseas dramatically altered our lives at home.

Each tour is approximately 30 – 40 minutes and is included in the cost of admission. Free for Rooms members.
