Join us for an evening with celebrated Newfoundland and Labrador actor, playwright, and humorist Andy Jones as he officially launches his latest book, Actor Needs Restraint!: Monologues, Recitations, Clown Turns, and Comedy Sketches, published by Breakwater Books.
Renowned for his comedic brilliance and insightful storytelling, Andy will entertain with readings, reflections, and behind-the-scenes anecdotes from his newest work, while also drawing from his extensive repertoire of tales, turns, and holiday delights.
Experience Andy’s wit and warmth, accompanied by live music from the renowned Geoff Panting, during this holiday celebration of one of our province’s most treasured artists.

About the Author:
Andy Jones has been a professional writer and actor for over forty years. He has written five critically acclaimed one-man comedy shows. He is well known as one of the members of the groundbreaking Newfoundland comedy troupe CODCO, in both its theatrical and television incarnations, and as a writer for CBC’s Kids in the Hall series. He has written six children’s books rooted in Newfoundland folk culture. Andy’s numerous awards include two Gemini awards, election to the Newfoundland and Labrador Arts Council Hall of Honour, the BMO Winterset Award, Best Performance at the Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax, and the ACTRA Award of Excellence for Lifetime Achievement.

Celebrating Indigenous Voices: An Evening with Artist Deantha Edmunds
Celebrate Indigenous Peoples Day! An intimate evening in conversation with multi-disciplinary, award-winning Inuk artist Deantha Edmunds. She will speak to her inspirations (including Billy Gauthier’s sculpture at The Rooms The Earth, Our Mother), her creation process, and her artistic journey, as well as her milestone successes winning a JUNO and ECMA in 2025.

About the Speaker:
Recent JUNO & ECMA winner Deantha Edmunds is Canada’s first Inuk soprano and was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2023 for her activity as a performer, writer, composer, and mentor. Her work seeks to empower Indigenous people and share their stories and resonates with both her community and internationally with integrity. She brings a level of professional excellence to Canada’s art scene that is unique and important. Deantha shares her voice and vision from the heart and draws accolades from across Canada and abroad.
